What Does The Sauk Centre Rotary Club Do?

Hearing the word "club" may lead you to think about memberships you maintained in your youth, such as a scouting club or intramural sports. Clubs don't have to be for young people, though. One club for adults that captures the spirit of camaraderie found in many youth clubs is Rotary Club.

The Rotary Club is a service-oriented organization. It encourages members to find ways to give back to the club and to the community, internationally, and vocationally. One of the unique ways the Rotary Club chooses projects is to see if they will pass the Four-Way Test:

  • Is it the truth?
  • Is it fair to all concerned?
  • Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
  • Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
Why Do People Join Sauk Centre Rotary?
Every Rotary club has a different focus and reason for being.

While all clubs participate in the Rotary International mission of eradicating polio, at the local level, Sauk Centre Rotary is all about building up our community, creating new friendships, growing as humans and leaders, and having fun. In fact, our motto is: Service Above Self.

Some of our members work on programs like STRIVE, where they mentor at-risk 11th grade students. Others prefer to volunteer in manual labor in the community, working at the park shelter, Community Garden, gazebo, and other causes. While others prefer to raise funds to donate to projects throughout the community. If you can think of some way to benefit the Sauk Centre community, the Rotary can help you fulfill that dream.
What Kind Of Speakers Present At Sauk Centre Rotary?
Of course, we'd want you to come and find out for yourself. You'll find us learning from a speaker most Tuesdays at Noon at Minnesota National Bank.

We will typically hear from local business leaders, nonprofits, organizations, or civic leaders on what they're working on in the community and how we can help. We'll also occasionally hear from county- and state-level officials on what is going on at their level which affects the lives and businesses of our community members. And we'll also bring in interesting state-, regional-, and national-level speakers on occasion to learn from.
What Is The Youth Exchange Program About?
Every year (barring COVID-19) Sauk Centre Rotary hosts one exchange student from a foreign country in Sauk Centre. In 2019-2020, we had the honor of hosting Jofre, from Spain, seen in this photo. He stayed with the Tom and Christina Rousslange family.

Are you interested in hosting an exchange student and learning about another culture? Do you know a high school student who would be interested in being an exchange student abroad for a one-month summer program or a full school year?
